Will Google buzz due to Microsoft-Yahoo Alliance?

After over a year long persual of yahoo, Microsoft has finally managed to form a strategic alliance with Yahoo to take on Google. For the past decade, Google has had a free run in the online search market, and any effort made by Microsoft or Yahoo to take on Google never worked. But, now with the two coming in together, they might actually be able to reduce the market share of Google if not completely overtake it.

As per the alliance, yahoo will recede its own search and will start displayin gMicrosoft’s new search engine “Bing” results. The ads displayed on those search result pages will be managed by Microsoft’s Adcenter and not by Yahoo’s ad platform Panama. Yahoo will keep 88% of the revenue of ads that will appear on Yahoo sites.

For internet users, this can only help. Although Google is still miles ahead, many believe that the Top 10 results of Google are these days prone to spam. More often than not, we now find irrelevant results in Google’s top 10 or results coming in from past years. Hopefully, the new alliance will also force Google to develop better search. All in all, it’d be the users who’d finally gain from this.
